September was a busy month for Local 2268, with meetings, community events, and opportunities to connect with CUPE members and education workers across the province.

We kicked things off with our Executive Meeting on September 2, bringing the Executive Committee together to discuss ongoing Local business, upcoming activities, and priorities for the months ahead.

September 11th to 13th, Darrelle Downs represented Local 2268 at the CUPE National Dollars and Sense Conference, an opportunity to build financial knowledge, connect with CUPE members from across the country, and learn more about the economic issues affecting workers and our communities.

On September 12, Local 2268 hit the streets for the Broadway Street Fair. JR Simpson, Emily Hitchings, and Teresa Hitchings represented the Local at the event, connecting with members of the community and helping bring some CUPE spirit to the day.

Later in the month, members came together for our General Membership Meeting on September 23. These meetings remain an important opportunity to keep members informed, discuss Local business, and make sure our members have a voice in the work happening within 2268.

The CUPE Saskatchewan All Committee Meeting followed on September 25, with Tammy Stonehouse (CUPE Saskatchewan Global Justice Committee Member), Gwen Murphy (CUPE Saskatchewan Global Justice Committee Member), Emily Hitchings (CUPE Saskatchewan Young Worker Executive Liaison), and JR Simpson (CUPE Saskatchewan Vice President) representing Local 2268. The meeting brought CUPE activists together from across Saskatchewan to share information, connect with one another, and continue the work happening through CUPE Saskatchewan’s various committees.

We wrapped up the month with the Education Workers Steering Committee All Presidents’ Meeting in Saskatoon on September 28. Tammy Stonehouse and Teresa Hitchings represented Local 2268 at the meeting, joining education-sector leaders from across the province to discuss the issues affecting education workers and the work happening within our sector.

September may be behind us, but the fall is just getting started. We have plenty happening in October, with more meetings, events, and opportunities to stay connected with your Local.

April was one of those quiet-but-critical months, where a lot was happening behind the scenes to keep things moving forward.

We kicked things off by sharing the CUPE Saskatchewan Violence Survey with members, helping ensure your voices and experiences are part of shaping safer workplaces across the province.

On April 1st, your bargaining team met with the employer for mediation. While these meetings don’t always come with immediate updates, they are a key part of pushing conversations forward and advocating for meaningful progress.

Mid-month, our entire stewarding team attended the Occupational Health & Safety Conference in Saskatoon (April 12–14), bringing back valuable insights and tools to strengthen health and safety practices in our workplaces.

The work continued with a Bargaining Committee Meeting on April 16, followed by the SPEL (Saskatoon & Prairie-Spirit Education Locals) Committee bargaining meeting on April 20, keeping momentum steady at multiple tables.

Behind the scenes, there’s also exciting progress to share: our new website is nearly ready to launch, and the Spring Newsletter is officially out. If you haven’t checked it out yet, now’s the time.

Hey there CUPE 2268 members! Scholarships for the upcoming year are officially open. We encourage you to send in your applications as early as you have all the documents. We know how busy the fall is, so let this be something that you don’t have to worry about, and get those applications in! We have four (4!) scholarships of $500 available to dependents of CUPE 2268 members who are attending post secondary this year. Additionally, we have one scholarship for CUPE 2268 Members who are attending a course of program for a job classification found within our bargaining unit to a total of $1000!
